From Route I-95 north or south:

  1. Take exit 14B for RI Rt. 37 West.
  2. Take exit 3 for Pontiac Avenue / John O. Pastore Government Center.
  3. At the bottom of the exit ramp turn left at the traffic signal onto Pontiac Avenue.
  4. Travel approximately 0.8 miles on Pontiac Avenue past the ACI and the RI Lottery Commission and turn right at the third traffic signal onto Howard Avenue.
  5. Travel approximately 0.2 miles on Howard Avenue past the Department of Labor & Training and turn right at the 4-way stop sign onto West Road.
  6. Travel approximately 500 feet on West Road past the Eleanor Slater Hospital ambulance entrance & parking lots on the left and turn left onto Halligan Road at the sign for the R.I. FIRE SAFETY BOARD OF APPEAL & REVIEW, opposite Roberta Richman Way.  Mathias Building # 56 is straight ahead on the left, past the Receiving entrance.  Fire Board entrance is through the double gray doors under the canopy where the wooden wheelchair access ramp is located.

From Route I-295 north or south:

  1. Take exit 3A for RI Rt. 37 East.
  2. Take exit 2A for New London Avenue (Rt.2) south / DMV Registry Building & RI Traffic Tribunal.
  3. Travel approximately 0.3 miles on New London Avenue past the RIDMV and Traffic Tribunal and turn left at the traffic signal onto Howard Avenue / John O. Pastore Center.
  4. Travel approximately 0.4 miles on Howard Avenue past the water tower and turn left at the 4-way stop sign onto West Road.
  5. Travel approximately 500 feet on West Road past the Eleanor Slater Hospital ambulance entrance & parking lots on the left and turn left onto Halligan Road at the sign for the R.I.   1. Turn onto Howard Avenue at the traffic signal - the RI Traffic Tribunal building is located on the corner.
  2. Travel approximately 0.4 miles on Howard Avenue past the water tower and turn left at the 4-way stop sign onto West Road.
  3. Travel approximately 500 feet on West Road past the Eleanor Slater Hospital ambulance entrance & parking lots on the left and turn left onto Halligan Road at the sign for the R.I. TRIVIA: The halligan bar was developed by FDNY first deputy chief Hugh Halligan as a forcible entry tool in 1948 and first used extensively by the Boston Fire Department.
